After departure from Amer we reached Jaigarh fort within next half an hour. Entry ticket to Jaigarh costs INR 35 per person and Still camera fee is INR 50. It issituated on the premonitory called the Cheel ka Teela (Hill of Eagles) of the Aravali hill ranges. You can see the Amer fort and the Moata Lake from this fort. The fort was built by Sawai Jai Singh III in 1726 to protect the Amer Fort and the palace complex within it and was named after Jai Singh II. It is 15 km from Jaipur city on a road diversion on the way to Amer.

Jaigarh Fort was a centre of artillery production for the Rajputs. It is now home to the Jaivana - world's largest canon manufactured in 1720. It was the cannon on wheels. The foundry where it was manufactured is also located here.

We also took services of one of the fort guard who showed us all the parts of the fort in detail and explained the authentic information. It enhances our experience of visiting any historical place when a guide takes us to past and recreates the scene of history in our mind. So I always prefer to take a guide in a historical place, but selection of the right guide is the most important factor.
After visit of the Jaigarh we returned to our hotel, took some rest and again went for some shopping in the walled city. We skipped some points like Nahargarh fort, Galta Ji, Gatore, Rani Sisodia Garden etc due to paucity of time, and left them for next visit. Our next stop after Jaipur was Agra - the city of Taj.
